  • The Shires To Join Joan Armatrading And Ray Davies For Glastonbury Festival’s Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza
  • UK National Tour in October with dates including Shepherd’s Bush Empire

The soundtrack to your summer will be UK country music this year, as The Shires today announced their new single ‘All Over Again’ has been added to the prestigious BBC Radio 2 A Playlist, repeating the success of their debut single ‘Nashville Grey Skies’, which was added to the Radio 2 A list earlier this year. The Shires will release ‘All Over Again’ on 21 August.

The UK country hitmakers also announced details of their summer live shows, which will include BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park, Somersault Festival in Devon, Camp Bestival and a prestigious support slot for Tom Jones on Monday 27 July at Greenwich Music Time. The Shires will also share the stage with music legends Joan Armatrading and Ray Davis for the 19th annual Extravaganza, held in Glastonbury Abbey on 8 August 2015. The event is held each year after Glastonbury Festival to thank locals for their support of the festival, with previous prestigious artists performing at the event including: Robert Plant, George Ezra, Status Quo, Madness, Van Morrison, Jools Holland and Bryan Ferry.

The Shires, who made their Glastonbury debut this year stated: “We are really enjoying the summer so far. Playing Glastonbury was a dream come true, but there is so much more to come. Getting the A list and playing BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park again is so fantastic, Radio 2 have been so supportive of us and we can’t thank them enough. Also warming up the stage for Sir Tom is a pinch me moment for sure. We are also honoured to be invited by Michael Eavis to share the stage with Ray and Joan at the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza. They are songwriting legends and an inspiration to us and all emerging songwriters out there. We can’t wait!”

Michael Eavis recently stated that: “The Shires… are making a name for themselves within months of being formed…” and Janet Bell, Abbey director, also recently added: “To have these world-class performers showcasing their talent in the abbey grounds is going to make a for a wonderful event…”

The Shires who only formed in 2013, have quickly spearheaded the British country music revolution in the UK and the US, which has seen them score a top 10 album, secure inclusion on Radio 2 playlists, achieve critical acclaim from the UK’s music critics and taste makers and play Nashville and country music’s most important stage The Grand Ole Opry as well as stealing the show at the UK’s leading country music festival C2C Festival at the 02.

Following their summer shows, The Shires tour the UK in October, with performances across the UK and the tour beginning at Bedford Corn Exchange on 1 October and culminating in a headline show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 24 October. For more information please visit:
